Nathanuel McCowan, 49, of Oakland, Calif. was charged with in the death of Laketha McCowan.

He was arrested on a warrant which was approved in Alameda Superior Court, just hours before the apprehension. Nathanuel McCowan was booked into the Santa Rita Jail. Thursday’s arrest took place without any incidents, police said.

The case was turned over to local prosecutors. If found guilty, he could face many years in prison.

The fatal shooting happened on February 26, 2023 at the Edwards Avenue ramp off of Interstate 580 in Oakland. The victim was found on the shoulder of the roadway. She died at the crime scene from a gunshot wound, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It s unclear what led to the shooting death of the woman.

The arrest was made after an investigation involving multiple police departments.

Armed Casino Visitor Sought

Police continue to search for two men who created a disturbance on Wednesday at Paradise Casino.

One of the men pulled out a firearm during the incident at the Yuma, Ariz. gaming property.

The dispute took place at about 4:30 a.m. The two men were ordered to leave the casino, according to Arizona TV station KYMA.

No shots were fired, according to initial reports. Police didn’t reveal what led to the argument.

The case was investigated by the Quechan Police Department.

Shooting Reported at Riverwalk Casino Garage

Police continue to investigate a possible shooting last Saturday at Mississippi’s Riverwalk Casino Hotel parking garage.

The incident took place at about 7 a.m. last Saturday. The gaming property is located on the Mississippi River.

An initial report said an unnamed employee was shot in the garage, according to the Vicksburg Daily News, a local news outlet.

The case was investigated by the Vicksburg Police Department.

Details weren’t immediately available.

Man Accused of Stealing Casino Chips

A man appeared in court on Tuesday for allegedly stealing from Pennsylvania’s Hollywood Casino on December 8.

The chips were scooped up from a gambling table by Macy Wilson, 35, of Baltimore, Md., according to police.

Wilson then fled from the gaming floor through a bus exit of the Grantville, Pa. casino. He then entered the casino’s parking garage. He reached his car and drove out of the garage. The vehicle later was located by Pennsylvania State Police at an unidentified hotel.

When state troopers were inside the hotel’s lobby, Wilson walked through the lobby as the troopers were watching surveillance video.

When troopers searched the suspect’s hotel room, they found clothes similar to what Wilson was wearing at the casino, police said. They also found a voucher for the casino while in the guest room.

Wilson was apprehended and later admitted to State Police that he stole the chips, according to the report. The chips had a total value of $9,500, according to Pennsylvania TV station WHTM.

Wilson was charged with robbery, theft, and receiving stolen property, State Police revealed. He was booked at Dauphin County Prison. His bail initially was set at $500K by Judge Dale Klein.

If convicted on the charges, he could be sentenced to prison.

Wilson continues to be investigated for possible involvement with a crime ring, State Police said.
